After announcing the hiring of co-head coaches Kelsey Black and Anne Schlabaugh earlier this year, the Highland volleyball program is back on the hunt for a coach following Schlabaugh’s resignment.
The program’s high school camp began on Monday with Kelsey Black as the lone coach.
According to Highland activities director Jody Fink, the district currently plans to keep the co-head coach structure in place, but is open to making Black the permanent solo head coach.
“We’re looking for a co-coach right now, but if somebody is more comfortable with the assistant position, we would be comfortable with that as well,” Fink said.
As for why Schlabaugh stepped down, Fink described it as “not the right fit.”
“It worked out for both of us in that aspect,” Fink said.
Black was the assistant varsity and head JV coach of the Huskies last fall, when the varsity team went 4-23 while the JV went 3-9.
