At their meeting on Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors proclaimed the county in a State of Emergency in response to the storms on September 19 and 20. The board also approved a subdivision plat and discussed using tax increment financing, or TIF, for county projects.
The supervisors approved the Minor plat for Goldfinch Meadows Subdivision, which met county requirements. The property, on Highway G36 just off Highway 218, includes three lots and is the proposed site of a MidAmerican energy substation.
During the public hearing, residents raised questions about how much power the substation would use and for how long it would operate. No completion date was given.
At the request of law enforcement, the board approved the Kick State of Emergency related to conditions caused by the severe weather.
They also approved a Memorandum of Agreement concerning emergency medical services in the county. After discussing the agreement, the supervisors approved related changes to the EMS bylaws.
Supervisors approved personnel changes for Kyle Evans, Information Technology Director, effective October 1, at $46.08 per hour; Brilee Flake, treasurer office clerk, effective October 5 at $23.91 per hour; and Laurie Amos, fall and winter GIS intern at $17 per hour. The board also accepted the retirement of Cynthia Sinn as information technology director.
In other business, the board approved a gutter repair at the WMIGA water facility and a briefly reviewed financing options for county projects, including the possible use of TIF funding.
