1. Call to Order Workshop: Sladek called board workshop to order @ 6:33 PM
2. Roll Call: Present: Robert Sladek, Joel Yedlik, Alex Ogren, Gordon Viers. Michael Hotz remote.
3. Approve Agenda: Viers motioned to approve the agenda, Yedlik seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
4. Old Business

A. Facilities: Nick with Emergent presented the proposed HVAC system installation and boiler removal phase document.

B. 500 Series: Supt Hotz presented the board with the revisions that were suggested to the 500 series by Alhers. The first board reading will be at the July 19th regular board meeting.

C. Board Policy 213 Public Participation in Board Meetings: Supt Hotz reviewed policy 213.

D. School Website: Supt Hotz discussed with the board on where the district is at in the process of the new website.

5. New Business

A. Legislative/ISFIS Updates: Supt Hotz informed the board on recent Legislative/ISFIS updates:
•Bus Drivers: The Department of Education is working on a way for individuals who have CDL to have a “fast track” to getting a bus license. More to come and this is not set yet.
•Operational sharing: Sunset was extended to the end of 2034-35. Max of 21 “students” a district can receive. Adjustments have been made. Transportation went from 5 down to 4 kids and Special Education went from 3 to 2 kids.
•Teachers with a Masters and 10+ years of experience no longer need recertification credit to update their license.
•Schools can use up to 5 days or 30 hours of virtual learning. Can be used for snow day make up or built into actual calendar
•If a student’s school day is off site or they are in an activity equal or more than activity required in 1/8 of PE class and parent requests student be excused from PE, school must comply
•Financial Literacy does not need to be a stand alone class as long as standards are taught in another course
•TLC, PD, and TAG can be used for TSS. Max of 5% of TSS can carry over each year. TSS can be used for retention payment but needs to be part of a School Board approved plan.

B. August Schedule: Supt Hotz presented a tentative pre inservice district schedule.

C. 2023-2024 Registration Fees: Reviewed and made suggestions to the 23-24 registration fees.
•Adult Passes to $90 each
•Year books $55

D. Summer Projects Updates: Supt Hotz updated the board on the 2023 summer projects.

E. Radon Report: A recommendation was provided from Terracon for implementing mitigation in some areas of our school based on the radon report.

F. Legislative Priorities:
Every spring, IASB’s Government Relations team asks school districts to submit legislative priorities, and requests any changes to the legislative platform for the upcoming legislative session. The feedback provided by districts allows us to position the organization on bills during the legislative session, so that we can effectively represent our members. Submit by August 15th

G. 2023 School Board Elections: Supt Hotz discussed the timeline for the upcoming school board elections. Elections will be held on November 7, 2023.

H. Superintendent Evaluation Process: Supt Hotz presented the board with his action steps and goals for the 23-24 school year.

I. School Board/Admin Retreat: The retreat date was scheduled for August 9th @ 6:30 P.

6. Adjourn: Yedlik motioned to adjourn the board workshop, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
