1. Call to Order: Board President Sladek called the meeting to order @ 6:33 Pm.

2. Roll Call: Alex Ogren, Michael Hotz, Robert Sladek, Gordon Viers, Jenny Eden.

3. Approval of the Agenda: Viers motioned to approve the agenda omitting the school nurse report, M. Hotz seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

4. Public Comment: Stakeholder Christina Magruder spoke on the topic of the 2024-2025 school calendar agenda item.

5. Athletic Booster Club: Booster Club representatives, Ashley Zaruba and Gina Burke, proposed updates for the school weight room. There are concerns about outdated and run down equipment. The Booster Club would like to apply for the Riverboat Casino Grant that would require resolution approval from the school board. The equipment would be used for sports as well as gym/strength and conditioning. The proposal would be for the school to match (25%) of the Booster Clubs (25%) and the Riverboat Casino Grant would cover the other (50%) for the updates.

6. Consent Agenda:
a. Previous meeting minutes: Viers motioned to approve the previous meeting minutes, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
b. Finance Report: Sbo Tharp reported on the finances.
c. Payment of Bills: M. Hotz moved to approve the board bills, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
d. Open Enrollment Requests: M. Hotz approved the open enrollment requests, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
i. In: McKenzie Tharp- Kindergarten 24-25 school year
ii. Out: Theodore Klemp- Kindergarten 24-25 school year
e. Personnel Items: None

7. Old Business:
a. 2024-2025 Registration Fees: M. Hotz motioned to approve the increase of the 3 year tuition to $90 a month for 10 months, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
b. HVAC Update: A representative from Shive Hattery updated the board on energy efficiency, grants and the benefits of utilizing a general contractor or construction manager on large construction projects.
Supt. Hotz provided feedback from the HVAC community group, Maintenance Director Scott Feldman and Larson Construction. The general consensus was to move forward with the Geothermal option sooner rather than later.
c. School Calendar
i. 2023-2024: Viers motioned to approve the May 3rd, 2024 teacher inservice day as a school make up date for students, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
ii. 2024-2025: The board discussed the feedback and questions from the public forum. Ongoing discussions will be had at the February 7th Board Workshop. The board recommends having 2 more public forums before the final decision is made.

8. New Business
a. Board Policy- Policy Primer (First Reading) Viers motioned to approve the first reading of board policies 401.1, 503.1, 503.1.R1, 503.2, 605.3.R1, and 701.5.R1, M. Hotz seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
b. Board Policy: 409.4-414.9 (First Reading) Viers motioned to approve the first reading of the board policies 409.4-414.9, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
c. Modified Supplemental Amount: At-Risk/Dropout: This provides the district more spending authority for at risk and dropout.
M. Hotz motioned to approve the modified supplemental amount for at-risk & dropout in the amount of $120,480, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
d. 28E Agreement: Food Procurement Activities: Viers motioned to approve the 28E Agreement for food procurement activities, Eden seconded. Motion carried 4-0-1 Hotz abstained.
e. March and April Public Hearings: Sladek motioned to set the first public hearing on April 3rd and the second public hearing on April 17th, M. Hotz seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

9. Superintendent Report: Supt. Hotz reported on new legislation, feedback from the Calendar/Handbook committee, feedback from the new website and SIAC committee.

10. Adjourn: Viers motioned to adjourn the meeting, Eden seconded. Motion carried 4-1 M. Hotz Nay.
