In just one week, the Lone Tree Fall Festival will return for another year. The annual event has been a Lone Tree tradition for more than 60 years.
This year’s festival will begin Friday night, Aug. 21, with carnival rides, tractor rides, a Big Wheel race, hay bale toss and much more.
On Saturday, Lone Tree will be busy from morning to night. The second day will begin with the Color Run at 8 a.m. and conclude with the raffle at 10 p.m.
Other activities throughout the festival will include the parade, pony rides, muscle tractor show, face painting, cornhole tournament, car show, tractor pull, egg toss, petting zoo and more. The Lone Tree Flyers will also be flying their radio-controlled aircraft at their RC field.
The Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce organizes the annual event. Chamber President Ryan Pearson explained why he is especially excited about the return of the carnival.
“Getting the carnival back last year was great, and we had a really good turnout. We were able to secure it again this year, so we’re really excited to have the tradition back.”
Pearson also highlighted some of the festival’s entertainment, including a new band performing this year.
“We have a new band this year called Ember out of Wisconsin that will perform Saturday night. We’re also bringing back ’90s country music bingo after having around 70 participants last year.”
The festival will conclude with its raffle, featuring prizes such as a 75-inch TV, Apple Watches, a PlayStation 5, an outdoor patio set, a Weber grill, two and a half pallets of Busch Light and much more. Pearson said the Busch Light prize is “the one that really excites a lot of people.”
In the past years, they even raffled off a golf cart, which was won by someone local, which they were happy to see.
While Friday is the first day of the festival, Pearson said there will still be plenty happening throughout the evening, including “food vendors, the Traveling Tapster, and frozen wine slushies.”
Pearson also talked about how busy Saturday gets, with activities happening throughout the day. The first event that takes place on Saturday is the Color run. Pearson explained more about it.
“The Color Run, hosted by the Elementary Healthcare Center, is also associated with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.” He continued and explained that it went really well last year.
“We had a great turnout last year, and it was something people talked about throughout the day. We’re expecting another strong turnout.”
“Saturday gets really busy, starting with the parade and carnival, along with several activities at ABC Park. Things then move to Jayne Street for the kids’ tractor pull and free Lions Club vision screenings for children ages six months to five years. Later, everyone heads back downtown for the dance performance, egg toss and other community competitions.”
