Hillcrest Academy was swept in three matches in its season-opening tournament in Fairfield on August 27.
The Ravens lost 21-18, 21-10 to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, 21-15, 21-8 to Albia, and 21-18, 21-15 to Fairfield.
Esther Hughes had two kills, and Yanitza Gutierrez and Evelyn Gerber each had an ace against Fairfield.
“There were so many positives to take away from the matches,” head coach Taylor Kurtz said. “The girls fought hard in each game and I truly feel that they left everything that they had on the court.”
Malia Sedlacek had two aces and Gutierrez delivered two kills in the opening loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
Fairfield junior Anna Dunlap had seven kills in the final match of the night.
The Ravens travel to Lone Tree to face the Lions on Thursday night.
Hughes leads Hillcrest with seven kills this season. Gutierrez and Sophie Marshall each have three.
Sedlacek has been powerful from the serving line, delivering a team-high four aces.
