In their regular meeting Tuesday, September 8, the Washington County supervisors unanimously approved a funding request from Celebrate Recovery Brighton but tabled a similar one from Celebrate Recovery Washington for further review.

Celebrate Recovery began in Brighton in 2025 and involves aiding with opioid treatment. The treatment currently costs $1,520 per month. A detailed presentation prepared by co-director Rick Zickefoose was provided to the board outlining the program`s services, weekly meeting and expenses. The entirely voluntary program averages between 20 to 50 participants.

The supervisors also unanimously acknowledged an application seeking funding from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.

In the annual report presented by executive director Zach Rosmus, the board learned that the Washington County Conservation Department had had a busy and productive year. Its accomplishment included the Marr Park Playground project, a new shower house and a 525 formal programs attended by a total of 11,781 people. The department`s current balance is $425,317,69. Its expenses totaled $448,143.87.

At last week’s meeting, the board approved a 140th St improvement and maintenance agreement with the Stone Ridge housing development owners association. The agreement is expected to result in an approximately $80,000 reimbursement to the county.

The board also proclaimed September as Recovery Month in Washington County as part of a national effort to bring awareness about drug addiction and recovery.

At the beginning of the meeting, the board recognized Melanie Larson for 25 years of service to the county.
