In a move that could aid future commercial development for both the City of Riverside and the county, all five supervisors approved a 2026 Riverside Commercial Urban Renewal Area involving the Blackjack Beach RV & Water Resort proposed by Elite Hospitality Group LLC. Plans for the site will include 154 RV parking spots, a 14,000-square-foot clubhouse, 30-foot slide tower, water slides and much more. The city will assist in the plan though the use of TIF funding for part of the costs.

The project’s estimated total cost is $9,721,614, including $4,030,000 in debt to be repaid through TIF. The project area includes public rights of way along Commercial Drive, Enterprise Drive and Highway 22, extending from the Enterprise Drive intersection east to the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort entrance.

In other business, the supervisors recognized Public Health Service employee Peggy Wood for her 20 years of service with the county.

The board also approved the $82,862.80 bid from LL Pelling Company, Inc. for the 140th Otta Seal project, along with weight embargoes for 22 county road bridges.

The county is seeking applicants to serve a six-year term on the county Magistrate Appointing commissions, beginning January 1. The appointment will be made on or before December 1.

The board also approved a proclamation supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans from Nov. 4-11.
