NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the owners and contract purchasers of agricultural land that the Washington County Board of Supervisors will consider acquisition of agricultural land by condemnation for a public improvement project. The project is identified as the McKains Grading Project (“the project” or “project”), consists of upgrading the existing secondary road right-of-way known as Dogwood Avenue to improve the safety of the road, including necessary associated grading and roadway grade changes and appurtenant facilities thereto. The proposed location of the public improvement comprising the project is shown on a conceptual drawing of the project which is now on file in the office of the County Auditor located at the Washington County Courthouse and is available for public inspection.
The project may require acquisition of agricultural land by condemnation. The location of the necessary land interests for the project is identified in a conceptual drawing of the project which is on file in the office of the County Auditor. The County has attempted to purchase the required agricultural land for the project by good faith negotiations.
The County shall conduct a public hearing before the Board of Supervisors of Washington County, Iowa at its regular meeting at the Washington County Courthouse, Basement Floor, 222 West Main Street, Washington, Iowa, on August 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., for the purpose of giving persons interested in the proposed project the opportunity to present their views regarding the project and proposed condemnation of agricultural land.
