Lone Tree

Last December, the Lone Tree Fire Department purchased a new medical response truck, a 2026 F-350, from Mincer Ford. The emergency lighting and decal work was completed by 424 Design.

About five months later, in May, the department received the long-awaited truck, identified as Unit 918.

According to Lone Tree fire chief Matt Zadow, the department plans to refurbish its previous medical response truck into a grass and wildland fire truck. The goal is to extend the older truck’s life and keep it in service as long as possible.

Zadow said the new truck will provide first responders with a reliable vehicle to serve the community for years to come. “The new truck provides our first responders with a dependable vehicle for medical calls and other emergency responses throughout the community.”

2026 recap

It has been a busy year for the Lone Tree Fire Department, according to Zadow. The department has responded to approximately 220 calls for service so far in 2026.

Those calls have included medical emergencies, fire-related incidents and other requests for assistance.

One of the fires the department responded to was an attic fire at a three-story home in August.

Fire prevention

With October being fire prevention month and colder weather approaching, Zadow reminds residents to take precautions to prevent fires.

He encourages everyone to make sure their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working and to have an escape plan in case a fire occurs.

Zadow also stresses the importance of inspecting furnaces, fireplaces, space heaters and other heating equipment in the home.

Zadow said preparation is key. “A little preparation can make a major difference when seconds count.
